The first vagabonds church of God thoughts on national poverty day, The holy bible mentions the word poor exactly 138 times in the old and new testament, that helping the poor is without a doubt Gods #1 passion outside of saving the lost, jesus even went so far as to say in one of the gospels that whosoever even gives a disciple a drink in the name of a disciple only will receive a disciples reward. some people think they they cant do things they look at the big picture and see it as overwhelming, but biblically all thats asked of anyone is to do what you can do. anyone can give a glass of water, this thing of poverty can be beat if everyone does just a little, we are too content to let others do it all sometimes that we forget that our blessings and rewards are based on what each of us as individuals do. A kind word a smile, can i help you with your plate would you like a cup of coffee or a bagel . i can skip one day to give someone a drink i can do without a more expensive shirt and use the savings to provide a pair of socks it does not take much and Jesus promised that even the least done to someone is done to him experience the reward of giving God Bless you

As an admirer and believer in Pastor Brian and his First Vagabond Church of God, I wanted to respond to this post. I see poverty as an old house with many possibilities. People drive by, see the house as old, run down in need of repair and say that will take forever to rebuild. A person with dreams will see that house in the future, all fixed up, ready to live it.
Any cause worth its weight has to rebuilt slowly, like the old house, one room at a time. We can end poverty one kindness at a time. When we live life in the first person we don't see the suffering of others. Like Pastor Brian said, one glass of water, a smile, a kind word, these are all things that cost nothing but give the greatest rewards. Don't pass by that person down on their luck without acknowledging them, these are people, just like you and me. All it takes is one kindness at a time, one room at a time to rebuild God's house, our world. Poverty isn't as hard as it seems to overcome, all it takes is a little kindness.and caring for others.
Have a great day :) Kassandra
